The Process

Here at Stringer's Bunny Sanctuary, we do things a bit different.

*ALL* Bunnies are given directly to me, or put in my special Bunny holding object. This is so no one can just dash in and grab up 20 bunnies. What I will do with your bunny is set it out in the adoption area, so people can visit, and see what is there to adopt. The bunnies will *NOT* be set for sale, for any price.

Bunnies donated under breeding age will be held till they are age 4 and switched to level 1 food/water. ***There will be no adoption of underage bunnies*** . All other bunnies apon donation will also be switched to level 1 food/water. ***There will be no adoption of Breedable bunnies***.

There will be an Adoption Form for you to fill out, which you will find inworld, or on this blog under the Forms link. Fill this Notecard out *IN FULL* and send it to me(Helena Stringer). If you grab it from the site, simply copy/paste it into your own notecard, and then follow the same instructions above.

You will also find a Pre-Adoption Form in the folder with this notecard as well. This is for people that really want a bunny, and are willing to wait till I have some in to adopt. I will only "Hold" Pre-Adoption Forms if the reasons for adopting fit my personal expectations. Fill the Notecard out *IN FULL* and send it to me(Helena Stringer). Obtaining this Form can be done the same way as the above Form.

~For People Leaving Bunnies~

There are 3 ways you can do this:

1) Send me(Helena Stringer) the Bunny Directly.
2) You can set the bunny in my Bunny Mailbox, which only I have access to.
3) I can give you the resources to find ways of finding someone to adopt thru you personally. Just be cautious that the person has the right intentions. This basically means if you don't want to hand over your bunny, you can hold it till I have a home for it.

What else do you have to do? Nothing other then let me know that said bunny is being put up for adoption. If you have left over food/water, rez them in the Rez Area, and set them to anyone, as well as anyone can move in the edit menu, and I can move them to let your bunny use it up.

You can choose to have a more in depth approach to putting your pet up for adoption. You don't have to tell me why, it's all up to you. If you want to be informed when your bunny has been set out, and when it has been adopted, let me know, and I can do that for you. You can alternatively watch the blog, for me to post the new arrival, and if it's been adopted.

All bunnies are welcome, even undesirable mutation bunnies, or bunnies past their breeding period. They all still have worth of some sort. Someone will give them a wonderful new home.

Adoption Area

This is the Adoption Area of Stringer's Bunny Sanctuary. Here is some history as to why I chose to use this empty lot I had sitting away wasting money on something like this

There are many reasons for this Sanctuary being born. Some of you might remember, or it might have been before your bunny time, that there was once a Great Carrot Hunt. The prize at the end of this Great Carrot hunt was a baby bunny! Many bunny lovers went thru the hunt, and ended up with an extra pet, or their first pet ever. Some tho, didn't know what the prize would be, and didn't want their baby bunny, Others yet, they went and found ways to get lots of bunnies thru this hunt. There ended up being many extra unwanted bunnies. I had more then a few people drop them on me, but I already had a big family, so I found homes for them. At the same time, I noticed that Orphanages were popping up. I thought this was great. Drop off your unwanted bunnies! Bunny gets a new home. This was until I found out that most of these places used it as a way just to get free bunnies. Others yet allowed anyone to snag them up, so breeders would ome in and leave with all of them.

This made me think that there must be a better way, and that way is to bring a little bit of RL into SL.

Alien Bunnah Parts for Haiti Relief Charity

I made these to go with my Alien bunnies. Malk was ever so kind as to set me up with a donation script, so that all proceeds of the sales of this set of bunnah parts goes to the same Yele.org fund that the Ozimals are supporting.

You get in your package a set of upright ears, a tail and whiskers. I didn't do all 3 types of ears, cause it just didn't look right with the alien type texture. The ears glow a bit, and have glowy tubes and spiky nob bits.

I will give refunds on nests, if you return it to me in nest form. I will ***NOT*** refund nests that have been birthed.

I make shit, it's what I do here in sl. I have bunny related items in my store, and will sometimes sell these things here at Stringer's Bunny Sanctuary. Examples of these items are:

-Clothing with Bunny theme
-Hair relating to Bunnies(Could have carrots in it or something)

You get the basic idea. These things are for you, not your bunny. They may just help you be closer to your bunny, who knows!

Hey this is your Friendly Neighbourhood Space Demon, who just happens to like bunnies!

When Malk told me way back when a bit about Candy's secret idea, I was excited. I have always had a things for little fluffy things in RL, and own a Bunny myself.

I went tru the beta, putting my bunnies thru all sorts of crazy tests, one involving my hair "toasting"(I make avi hair in sl, and I have this crazy scripted tool thing that lags the hell outta shit). It got me more and more excited as time went on and even prompted me to start making bunny related avi items, like my bunnah undies and Bunnah demon ear sets.

Of course I was going to end up with bunnies! Slowly it leaked that this scarey ass space demon liked the little puffs, and come opening day, when I was totally set on just having one breeding pair, I ended up in charge of *9* bunnies. I do have to admit some are my sister's and her man's. Some people bought me a few singles, and then I got some other donated ones from friends, I did end up getting 2 more, just trying to get another breeding pair with a different breed set, cause I had alot of dutches(I have now since gotten a few more hehe).

Anyways . . .

Why are you reading about this? I wanted you to know that my personal family of bunnies are just that, and I didn't snag up a bunch of "adoption bunnies". I have had them, and have cataloged them in my personal bunny blog since the begining of my bunny adventure. You can view my blog here if you need clarification: http://demonbreedsbunnahs.blogspot.com/. I also track their mating on there, so I can be a better personal breeder. I'm not one of them big time cash crop breeders, for me this is for fun.

Thru the course of this adventure with my sanctuary, you'll sometimes see my family of bunnies, so the place isn't empty, and so I got buddies while I'm setting up stuff. They have their own area, and no, they aren't for sale.

Intro

I'm Helena Stringer, a Bunny luvin Space Demon. I also happen to be a designer in sl. When Malk first told me of his venture with his Partner Candy a long time ago, I was very excited. I knew with them and their contacts working on it it was going to be a wonderful product. I also knew I'd get addicted, cause I so love the bunnies. I supported them as much as I could thru the beginning, and was very proud to see all the progress. When you have such talented people butting heads anything can happen. Eventually closed beta started, and there was a small army of people reporting bugs and asking for features and whatnot. Then open beta, and well then the bunnies!

It was easy to see from the launch how fast it was going to take over the grid, and how addicted people were going to get.

For me, thru my time so far with my harem of bunnies, they are the perfect distraction, the perfect break from designing, as well as a fast growing community of people who also own their own gaggles of bunnies across the grid, who were very active in both the official group and on the forums.

With what time I have spent with my little digital bunnies, I knew I'd be very into the genetics, rather then being a profit breeder. I've built my family, and other then new additions, the family will stay the same, I intend to use my findings to better help those who want to keep track of their own bunnies, for the fun of the game. I have my own blog for them called Demon Breeds Bunnies!

Now with them breeding, and me collecting, things were getting rather cramped in the pens I had them in on my sim. Then I remembered I had a 937 prim plot on mainland, on a class 5, doing basically nothing for the last 8 months. Just sitting empty, and being used as a getaway to work on every once in a while. Well I decided to build my bunnies a rather nice home there. I also knew I'd have to sell off, give away, and maybe trade my offspring at some point, cause I couldn't keep them all. So I sectioned my bunny skybox into 4 sections. I also wanted to contribute to this growing community of bunny lovers. So I made an area for people to rez their bunnies, for playdates or just to feed if they didn't have land. I had a section for my family of bunnies. I had a section where I could sell things. and there was one left over. What was I going to do with that?

Well the idea came to me after a rather large amount of bunnies got dropped on me within a short span of time.

"I can't keep them all, I know you love them so here" one friend said.

"I did the hunt with a friend, and didn't know what the prize was, I don't feel like feeding it" said another.

"I've decided not to do this bunny thing, but I already bought a few, here have them" was yet another IM.

I couldn't possibly keep them all, with my own family growing, and with my own friends buying me some as gifts, as well as taking care of my sister's bunnies.

So I started finding homes for some of them, while looking into the few orphanages I'd heard about.

Now I'm a person that likes honesty above all things. I dislike fakers, and can't stand people gaining profit from someones loss, or taking advantage of the average joe. I scouted out these orphanages, and found most lacking. Out of the 4 I had data on, 2 were basically just a drop and grab type deal. People drop off the bunnies, owner of the land picks them up and resells them for major profit. Now it would have been acceptable a bit for say a lower price, like L$50, but to resell donated bunnies for L$500 and up, that's just the workings of a money hungry person.

It made me super sad. As for the other 2, they seemed legit, but by the time they had started, most of the community was already jaded by what the first 2 had done. The one thankfully has now been closed down by the Ozimals Team. The other I'm still watching.

This all made me think, well lets do our own version of an adoption program. So this is what the 4th part of my skybox sanctuary has turned into.

And this is how this new adventure has developed.
